This enables students to learn vital information for navigating the world of work whilst having fun and further developing their transferable skills.

What's included...

  • It’s All About the Comms

  • Online Brand

  • Rising to the Top: Group Interview

  • CV Builder

  • The Search is On

Our Employability Day is ideal for secondary schools looking to develop learners transferable skills and build knowledge of how to navigate and present oneself in the world of work.

The Employability Day Session Plan

By the end of these activities students will:

  • Understand what essential and transferable skills are.

  • Identify their own strengths and areas of improvement.

  • Put together a starting point CV.

  • Understand how to search and apply for jobs.

  • Experience what it is like to take part in a group interview and how to prepare for one-to-one interviews.

It's All About the Comms

  • This workshop explores the job interview and the skill of communication. Through a range of games the students will develop their verbal and nonverbal communication, learn about the power of body language and explore interview questions and answers.

Online Brand

  • This workshop examines the importance of a good online profile. Students will think about first impressions and what an employer might find if they put their name into a search bar. Students then take part in the ‘online tidy-up’ challenges; using our robots they will organise what is professional and what is personal online and what they might need to do to keep these separate.

Rising to the Top: Group Interview

  • The session begins by exploring body language through a series of group games. Some further interview tips are then run through with the group. Learners move onto explore good interview questions through a class challenge before learning how to apply the STAR technique to further improve their responses. See session end with an activity to get learners experience how to ‘think on their feet’ and prepare for the uncertainty of job interviews.

CV Builder

This workshop explores CV writing. Through a competitive quiz using our Qwizdom handsets students will learn about CV writing. They will take part in a creative advertising task from which they will use this experience to build a basic framework from which to write their CV.

The Search is On

  • This workshop introduces students to the different methods of searching and applying for jobs. In teams the students will compete in the ‘Search is On’ board game. They will face challenges guiding them to the different opportunities that exist both online and physically when searching for jobs as they try to win the most points in the time limit to be crowned the winners.
