Harrow NCS Changemakers Gifted Pizza-Making Session with a London Head Chef

Updated: Feb 18, 2022

This February, a team of NCS Changemakers from Harrow had the huge privilege of cooking alongside Three Cranes Head Chef, Douglas Brunen. From scratch, they prepared and made pizza at London’s Community Kitchen, a partner of NCS Changemakers.

This incredible course was gifted to the Changemakers by London’s Community Kitchen as a ‘thank you’ for all the incredible work they had done as part of their December Social Action Project. This included raising money to buy non-perishable food items and warm clothing for the charity, as well as volunteering at the kitchen for the day. Furthermore, they topped off their goodwill by sorting through donations, creating care packages, wrapping Christmas gifts for children who live in poverty, and writing thoughtful, positive Christmas cards to give out too.

Filled with excitement, the Changemakers got stuck into the course, led by cooking veteran Doug, who has over 40 years’ experience, working in restaurants and Michelin Star establishments across the world.

So, what is London’s Community Kitchen?

London’s Community Kitchen was established in 2014 by a group of like-minded people, that wish to see a more environmentally conscious community, driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support.

Working today for a brighter, and better tomorrow

The charity emerged out of the pursuit to inspire and support the community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. From this, they unearthed their core ethos of Zero Waste & Zero Hunger.

Zero Waste, Zero Hunger

The blueprint of their entire operations, they believe it to be an absolute human right to have access to free or affordable food, for the most vulnerable communities across London.
