Our ZEISS partnership will continue to engage pupils into 2022.

ZEISS Vision Care renew partnership with STEM activity providers Learn By Design

ZEISS Vision Care has renewed its partnership with STEM activity provider and educational consultants Learn By Design. Following a successful first year, with many of the children saying they are interested in a job in STEM, the partnership will continue to inspire young people through engaging STEM workshops and a science-focused competition.

The program will engage with schools in Birmingham and the West Midlands, delivering interactive sessions designed for upper Key Stage 2 students, aged 9-11 years. The programme will incorporate key elements of ZEISS’ work, such as robotics and innovation. The workshops will be rolled out with face-to-face delivery in schools from October 2021, with available supporting online resources , and a competition event planned for summer 2022.

Lindsay Filmer, Marketing Director at ZEISS Vision Care UK & Ireland said
‘" As an internationally leading technology enterprise operating in the fields of optics and optoelectronics, we use state of the art technology across all four of our business segments to offer exceptional products to our customers. We utilise cutting edge technologies to develop premium vision solutions that offer consumers precise, optimum vision. We created the workshops with Learn by Design to ignite an interest in STEM by looking at the creation, development and use of technology to create products and services. We were delighted to see the engagement with last year’s program, and to see so many children enjoying their STEM project. We look forward to another successful year!”

Learn by Design’s head of business development and education, Mike Ridler, commented
‘We at Learn by Design are delighted to once again work with Zeiss Vision Care Ltd on the delivery of this exciting hands-on STEM programme. As an organisation centred on helping young people achieve and sustain better lives through the provision of opportunity and raising aspirations for future learning and careers, especially in the world of STEM, this programme once again helps us reach those aims. After such a challenging year last year in terms of being able to offer on site, hands-on learning, we are extremely excited to be able to work with young people, back in the classroom, on this great Zeiss Vision Care initiative.

Challenge Your Imagination:

The programme is aimed at upper KS2 (year 5 - 6) and open to primary schools across Birmingham.
